EDUCATION FOR ALL!
The right on education is valid without exceptions!
JOG – Youth without borders is a self organized initiative of young refugees and their friends, who are active all over Germany, for example in Hanau, Kiel, Hamm, Dortmund, Munich, Trier, Chemnitz. We stand for empowerment and the self organization of young people and we demand the right to stay without conditions and access to education for all.
We came to We`ll Come United with a huge education-truck: in the front on the drivers-cab we presented a big hat for university degree and around the truck we distributed 100 such hats. The whole parade was full of graduates, who took their right for education, although it is refused to them in the daily level. The truck was full of large cornets of cardboard – usually filled with sweets and little presents given to children in Germany on their first day at school – this time filled with desires and demands. The wagon was decorated with a big golden academic gown, we had big blackboards and posters and banners, on which we carried our demands through the streets of Berlin. We told our stories, we have reported about our experiences from flight and deprivation of rights, about permanent waiting periods and daily discrimination. We denounced serious deficits but we also presented our solidarity and our successful struggles. We came united to grow in our movement and to continue in a common struggle in the future. Young people – coming from everywhere – have danced, sung and shouted together, against exclusion, for equal rights and a society of solidarity.
We demand sufficient places in regular schools for the newcomers and children and youth in school age, because children belong to schools and not to reception centers and (detention) camps! Prohibition of education has to be abolished! We need BAföG and BAB (financial support for education) for all! We demand the right on language courses from the beginning for all! Education is a basic right and not a privilege! Education for all.
